Biruta Basement: Surf Art
Let me introduce you into a world which remains unknown for many people : The Surf Art World.
The Surf Art concept includes painting, sculpture, literature, photography, movies and music. The last one is the most famous among them. Have you ever listened Sublime? Jack Johnson? Or Donavon Frankenheiter? Probably someone will tell me: "Hell no, it is not surf music". But it is. I know, the surf music started a few decades ago with Duane Eddy, Link Wray, and The Ventures. However, I was meaning the 'modern surf music'... Anyway, all this 'cult' movement inside the surfing world is increasing. And here I am to introduce you the work of friend of mine: Guilherme Tonelli, a.k.a. Biruta.
Fairly quiet, thin, soft-spoken and extremely 'My Pace". Born in Brazil, he is a surfer, designer, artist, photographer, skater and snowboarder. I met him a few years ago, during the 'Festival Alma Surf - Billabong music and art festival'. He was exposing his work there and a good friend of mine also called Guilherme (a.k.a. Chinóca) introduced me to him. Since then we became good friends. Many surf trips that I have made after this festival, he was together. Traveling with 'Biruta' it's always a pleasure, because we are sharing the same passion that inspire ourselves: 'Surfing'. Surfing all day and at night, jam sessions and discussions about Surf Art. If you have a opportunity to meet him, you will see how he is an absolutely soul surfer who knows a lot about boardsports.

He can also take good photos. Fan of analog photography and always traveling with his analogical camera and many roll films, he captures with his lens incredible magic moments of everything.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to tell you what is the main work of Guilherme Tonelli: Painting. And i can assure you that he is an exceptional painter.
